SAVAR'AVING

Basic Race

Under the order of Queen Matriarch Allana, to aid in the rebuilding of the Savar’Aving race once again into a prosperous civilization, Ragini who of noble caste was entrusted to the settlement and and protection of the pride which calls the Shadow Isles home.

THE NABOOTHRI PRIDE OF ACASA

HISTORY

Ragini was to form a new pride of her own consisting of warriors gifted from Ravi and Aaarti, craftsman gifted from Vyāpārī, and labourers gifted from Gandagī. With this Ragini created the Naboothri pride and settled Acasă.

The Matriarch at first struggled with the Ajaunti and Hoblings that lived on the island prior to their landing, with minor skirmishes taking place. However since the first few months on Acasă the Naboothri pride has made strides to living in peace and relative isolation from the non-savar’aving populus.

Many years prior to the formation of the Naboothri pride Savar’aving began appearing on Acasa. These nomadic rangers seemingly came from nowhere but claim to have been on the shadow isles for as long as they can remember. They have generally been friendly and helpful to the other peoples of the isles but are somewhat uncivilized due to their nomadic nature. Since interaction with the Naboothri pride these rangers have come to be vassals of the pride but still, largely do what they wish with their time and travel wherever they wish to go. With the recent addition of a skein gate in Zenithstrand more “gifts” from the other prides have been arriving, some naive young savar’aving looking to change their caste, some old and lame, others still with a similar sense of duty to expand and grow their race as their new matriarch has.

RELIGION

The Naboothri pride follows suit with other settlements of Savar’aving in that their religious views range widely. Most Savar’aving will worship or follow what ever God or Dragon is most relevant to their life. The only exception is the worship of Malagant or fellowship of Styphon as their ties to necromancy makes them abhorrent to Savar’aving sensibilities.

The most common worship within the Pride is that of Physignathus, due mostly to their safe journey across the sea from Felnir to Acasa, and their newfound closeness to the ocean. The Matriarch has no publicly declared faith, likely due to religion interfering with impartiality. The Rangers do not speak much about faith however their relationship with the land seems to suggest that they have a following of Dunarthos and Sybil.

CULTURE

Much of the Savar’aving act the same as they would in other parts of Arthos, the biggest difference however is the small breakdown of the caste system on Acasa. Due to this being a new settlement the caste system has very little sway. All the Naboothri are noble even if not by birth, and as such the pride acts as a melting pot for the caste system, creating a way for all of the castes to interact and work together closely without stigmas. While this is great for the lesser castes the higher castes are certainly not as happy and see being sent to the Naboothri as some sort of slight or punishment.

Music also plays a large role within this new society as colonizing an infertile island is not without it’s challenges, work songs, love songs and bawdry tavern songs can be heard very often throughout the days as the Pride maintains its foothold on Acasa.

The Rangers on the other hand seem perfectly content roaming and living off the land without any established society, however they do have elders whom they take cue from. These Elders rarely emerge from the wood and only seem to consult on larger matters that affect their people as a whole.

POLITICS AND MILITARY

Politics are not the forte of the brazen Ragini however if you asked the landed members of the Naboothri pride however they would say that their matriarch is nothing but a delight to other leaders. In reality however Ragini would rather send a goon in her place, and often does to discussions of all kinds. Whomever she sends depends on her whims meaning that rarely can any meaningful progress be made, most of her deligates however have claws and are skilled in using them.

The Matriarch does listen to the advisement of the local pride mothers, that is the Savar’aving who look after the needs of different groups of the settlers, in the Naboothri usually based on occupation over regional or caste. However If the Matriarch deigns something important enough to seek it out herself then she is driven to that end, employing tactics that border on the criminal.

As can be expected this frustrates many, but being a colony of Savar’Aving 90% of the populous of the colony are clawed, and therefore staunch foes that gives those frustrated parties pause before considering hostile action. This military also isn’t organized per se and aside from the Matriarch’s landing party use mob tactics and any other tactics they may think of on the spot.

The Rangers have never openly attacked anyone and seem uninterested in the shedding of blood, their numbers are unknown.

Hierarchy: Matriarch Ragini Naboothri > Local Pride Mothers > Clawed Savar’aving > unclawed Savar’Aving/Rangers.

ROLEPLAY TIPS

There’s many varieties of roles that can fit here; with that in mind here’s some suggestions and ideas to keep in mind:

  • This is a pride of misfits, the unwanted members of other prides and the eager go getters, Opening up all kinds of occupation or caste dynamics.

  • Like all Savar’Aving you want your race to live on and grow past the plague of the past, you should do what you think will grow the colony of Acasă and gain more land for the motherland!

  • The Savar’aving colonists are good at flaunting their ‘noble’ status, as such you should act superior to Savar of lesser (or equal if you like) caste, and especially towards other races.
